Sisley Unveils New Hair-care Brand

BRAND NEW: Sisley is launching a new brand — this time, for hair.
“It’s a rather emotional moment for us to introduce a new brand,” said Philippe d’Ornano, president of Sisley, during a party held in Paris on Monday evening. “The last brand we launched was by my mother and father — Sisley.” That was in 1976.
Cut to today, and the luxury beauty company will shortly roll out Hair Rituel by Sisley, whose product collection includes a revitalizing volumizing shampoo, a revitalizing smoothing shampoo, a restructuring conditioner, a regenerating hair mask and a hair-care oil.

“We are really treatment specialists,” said Isabelle d’Ornano, Philippe’s mother, after the screening of a brief film to present the brand. Hair care, after all, is considered the new skin care today.

EXCLUSIVE: Kaia Gerber Designs Capsule Collection With Karl Lagerfeld

PARIS — Move over, Gigi — there’s a new “It” girl in town.
Only three months after her stellar debut catwalk season, Kaia Gerber has inked her first big design collaboration, with Karl Lagerfeld, no less. The 16-year-old daughter of Cindy Crawford has worked on a capsule collection that will hit stores in September, WWD has learned exclusively.
Consisting of ready-to-wear and accessories, including footwear, sunglasses and jewelry, the line is described as blending Lagerfeld’s Parisian chic aesthetic and Gerber’s signature West Coast casual style, which has garnered her 2.7 million followers on Instagram.
The Karl Lagerfeld x Kaia collection will launch globally in Karl Lagerfeld stores, online at Karl.com and with select wholesale partners.
Lagerfeld singled out Gerber as a rising talent months before her breakout season in September, which saw her walk the catwalk for 18 brands, including Calvin Klein, Prada, Saint Laurent and Versace.
She ended it with an honor most seasoned models would die for: Opening the Chanel show for Lagerfeld, who in addition to heading his own label is creative director of Chanel and Italian fur specialist Fendi.
“When Karl first told us his idea to collaborate with Kaia, we were all excited by the incredible potential and power of bringing their

Fountain Valley City Councilman Mark McCurdy resigns from office

Maverick Fountain Valley City Councilman Mark McCurdy shocked the city and colleagues Monday, Jan. 15, when he announced his resignation from the city governing body in a tersely worded letter to Rob Houston, city manager.

Mayor Mark McCurdy speaks after Office Mitchell Martinez is sworn in at the Fountain Valley Council Chambers on Tuesday afternoon.///ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: 7/23/13 - fv.citynews.0725 - MELINA PIZANO, ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER - Mayor Mark McCurdy speaks after Office Mitchell Martinez is sworn in at the Fountain Valley Council Chambers on Tuesday afternoon. Martinez will be the police department's fourth new officer this year, and they hope this will lead to a decline in crime after a few years of increased crime.
Fountain Valley City Councilman Mark McCurdy announced his resignation.

In part, the letter read, “At this time, I find it necessary to secure employment outside the area, and having no other option, to effective immediately, step down from my position serving on the City Council.

“It has been an honor to serve the citizens of Fountain Valley and, for that I will always be grateful.”

Houston said he was surprised to receive the letter Monday morning as he had not talked to McCurdy about the possibility beforehand.

Houston said he and members of the council would discuss the matter at their regular Tuesday meeting before deciding on a course of action.

McCurdy was not immediately available for comment, but his rocky relationship with fellow council members has been well-documented.

This year, for the second straight year, McCurdy was passed over in the city’s standard mayoral rotation, in part because of his refusal to participate in the the city’s strategic planning sessions, which he felt violated the state’s open meetings law. He was also often the lone dissenting vote in matters such as tax increases and spending.

McCurdy was popular with voters, receiving the most votes in the Nov. 2014 election for City Council.

When McCurdy was bypassed for a second time for mayor in December, a number of residents spoke to support him.

Resident Leston Trueblood called the action an “unprecedented personal vendetta and collective mission to publicly bully, shame and deny Mr. McCurdy his rotation right to be mayor of our city.”

McCurdy had one stint as mayor and believed he deserved another.

“I did an outstanding job in 2013 and I want an opportunity to do that again without being passed over,” he said. “I believe this happened because I have a difference of opinion.”
