Man shot while riding bicycle in Santa Ana

SANTA ANA  — A man riding a bike was seriously wounded when he was struck by gunfire Thursday night, Jan. 11, police said.

Around 10:55 p.m. the victim was traveling in the 2000 block of South Towner St. when an occupant fired at him, Cmdr. Michael Claborn said. He was struck in the lower torso and was transported by ambulance to an area hospital. The victim’s name was not released and details about his condition were not immediately available.

Police had not identified a suspect or obtained a description of the vehicle as of late Thursday night. The shooting is suspected to be gang-related, Claborn said.
